The Special Projects Office is responsible for the award and management of grants offered by U.S. Embassy Maseru through different funding sources. The grants provided support a wide variety of purposes ranging from community projects that improve the basic and social conditions of the village to projects that provide support to Orphaned and Vulnerable Children and people living with HIV/AIDS. In the past we have also offered grants that support capacity building initiatives for women and girls as well as projects that promote and strengthen democratic institutions.

Consular services offered in Maseru include emergency assistance to American citizens, processing applications for passport-related operations, determining U.S. citizenship, and nonimmigrant visa services.
The Political Section is responsible for tracking significant political trends in Lesotho, while also following regional political trends and human rights issues as well as maintaining close and constant liaison with the highest levels of Lesotho’s military to designate and administer courses given in Lesotho.
The Economic/Commercial Section of the U.S. Embassy represents American economic policy interests in Lesotho, including the continuing economic development of the mountain kingdom, and advises mission leadership and the U.S. Government on economic and labor issues in Lesotho.
The Public Affairs Section is divided into two parts, the Cultural Section and the Information Section.
